Hey guys, want to read something fun? Something that rhymes and where you can also make animal noises? Do you want to read something that uses the word ZOO in a interesting kind of way? Where the illustrations are gorgeous and the animals faces make you laugh (especially the giraffe on the front cover)? Then reading Hole in the Zoo is definitely the book for you, it is all this and more and might become one of my new Storytime favourites.

Chloë Inkpen and her father Mick are a well known duo when it comes to children’s books, some of you may be familiar with the Zoe and Beans series.   This talented duo recently released their new book Hole in the Zoo and it is something special.  This father and daughter partnership certainly is talented and I can only hope that they continue to write many more books together.

The story begins with the house at number two where some animals begin coming out of the word Zoo, yep that’s right four stripey things came through.  The animals have fun with Ellie and Boo until a man from the zoo comes through, can you guess what he is going to do?

There is something about this book that I really like, Chloë and her father haven’t used all “typical” Zoo animals that you normally find in children’s books.  There are a variety of animals ranging from frogs to flamingos and each one has been beautifully (and funnily) created.

Your child will be excited to turn each page and discover what animal is next, and counting how many animals they can guess.  Each glossy page is filled with fun, humor and just the right amount of illustration. This book will make the perfect Christmas gift for your toddler or preschooler.

Thank you to Hachette Australia for the opportunity to read and honestly review this book.
