The Story of Christmas
is like a little gift from heaven because it is an accurately portrayed story of the birth of Jesus.  This book is everything that Christmas is to me, so when I received this gem in the mail I was instantly taken in by the beautiful illustrations and the brightness of each page.  The book is soon to become a favourite of many families across the globe, regardless of what Christmas means to you.

This stunning book is a sturdy board book with a soft cover, but it’s not just for babies, it is perfect for the whole family.  All the faces, including the animals look peaceful – in fact so peaceful their eyes look shut, but they give you a sense of calm and tranquility.

The book begins with the angel Gabriel visiting Mary to tell her she would give birth to a baby named Jesus, the Son of God.  What I really like is that Gabriel tells Mary that God loves her, how wonderful that must have felt during such an unknown time.  The Story of Christmas  follows the birth of Jesus and how he was born in a manager, very loved by his parents and revered by the people of Jerusalem.

What I find perfectly fitting at the end of the book is the nativity on the mantle, the Christmas tree, family and presents which collectively acknowledge Jesus birth and the the celebration of this holiday with a tree and presents. This makes the book inclusive of different beliefs and ways to celebrate Christmas day.

This book will make a beautiful addition to any Christmas book collection, and would make the perfect story to be shared each Christmas day perhaps the beginning of a new family tradition.

Thank you to Hachette Australia for the opportunity to read and honestly review this book.
