Nala is a Koala. She is very sweet, but she is also very lost looking for a new home after the fires force her out of her old one.

This book cleverly discusses issues about climate, displacement and how to preserve the environment around us in a gentle way. What really makes this book special is the sense of community that brings Nala to a place she can call home.

Nala the Koala isn’t just a beautiful story that is easy for new readers to read, but it is filled with the most divine illustrations by the talented Min Pin.

The pictures are engaging and support the story well, meaning if you are just flicking through without reading the words the book speaks volumes about the story and is perfectly suited to a broad age range of readers.

Children will have fun guessing where the different animals live, and the book teaches them about the type of environment animals need to live in. The team at Penguin Random House|Puffing and Min Pin have made an educational book a joy to read as it teaches children what we can do to help make a difference and provide animals with a safe place to live.

The illustrations speak volumes about how passionate Penny is about this topic, they immerse you into the world of Nala as she searches for her home.

I think it is important to keep kids engaged in issues surrounding the Australian natural environment.
Penny Min Ferguson, illustrator.

I agree with Min Pin, teaching children from a young age in a way they understand is a perfect introduction to understanding the issues our environment and animals face, and this book is an ideal place to begin.

Thank you Penguin Random House|Puffin for the opportunity to read and honestly review this book.
