Merry Christmas

To the children out there.  Books are a beautiful gift of imagination, knowledge and being lost in worlds where anything is possible.  Enjoy this gift, soak it up and let your imagination soar.

Swan Lake

I remember the day I received this book, I was literally in awe and I believe my mouth dropped open because I was captivated by its beauty.  The first thing you notice when you open this book is that the pages are very dark and they evoke emotion.

The Book of Dust

The Book of Dust, I am not sure what I was thinking when I picked this book up for the first time.  I know it was not typical of what I read but in an instant I was captivated.  It wasn’t for a couple of hours later that I put it down, but given its size I had barely made a dent in it.  This did not matter to me as I wanted to know so much more and the mystery surrounding Lyra Belacqua intrigued me.

Sharkpedia

Calling all shark trackers!…We’ll hit our favourite shark haunts and hideouts and study lot of different sharks…and, of course, those celebrities of the sea.. A combination of these words were the introduction to the book and they really packed a punch.  I was inspired to go on the journey with Professor John and study these mysterious creatures and hopefully to dispel some of my fears.

The Red Ribbon

As you entered an unknown harrowing time where learning to survive was what consumed your everyday – I saw you both and I felt helpless that I could only listen to your story, but I was also hopeful.  With every bit of anguish, aspirations that were stomped on, harsh words, abuse and longing for home, for the haven life used to be, my only hope was that you would be safe with no lasting mental or physical scars.

The Artistic Literacy Experience

Recently I did a couple of different story times based on dinosaurs at two different libraries. I was excited to use the Knock Knock Dinosaur book by Nick East that I recently reviewed at both the story times and it was a hit! Both sessions were different sizes so the other books I chose were based on those groups, so the other books I used were different at each session.
