This book is an important one. It gives Mental illness in tweens and teens a voice. It's deep and sad, but it also resonates joy.
Running with the Horses
There are some books that you move your hands over, admiring every inch and you know there is something special about the book inside and out. This book captured my attention and it was indeed something wonderful.
The Happiest Man on Earth
The Happiest Man on Earth is a story of survival. It's barely imaginable. Even though Eddie gives us a glimpse of what he went through, we really cannot understand the adversity he experienced, but we can give his story a voice
Detention
Detention was a privilege to read. It was confronting, powerful, emotional filled and an important story to tell. It reminded me that not all Australians live equally
Books On Tour – Juno Jones
There is no one quite like Juno Jones, she doesn't like reading, is writing a book, she's got ninja moves and is usually up to some sort of mischief...or at least thinking about it.
A Great Escape
A Great Escape is a story of courage, resilience and bravery during a time of uncertainty. Felice Arena has again written about a difficult topic in a way that keeps the reader invested in the story.
Fairytales For Feisty Girls
Fairytales for Feisty Girls are Once upon a time stories with a difference. These stories invite the reader to believe in themselves, to be courageous and to realise just how smart they are.
The Garden of Hope
When the sadness and anxiety is getting too much, Dad tells Maya how her mum used the garden to shine a little light when her happiness was lost. “…Your mum knew that by the time the seeds had grown, these worries would have faded away. She called them her seeds of hope.”
Missing
Missing is one that wouldn't let me put it down. Sue's book is engrossing, raw and emotional, especially when you think you know how it is going to end and it isn't how you thought it would be.
