What do Nit Boy, Toffle Towers and Awesome friendly adventure all have in common? Read on to find out...
Let’s Go On An Adventure…
If your tween loves to go on an adventure, a bit of a laugh or to delve into a new series, then they are bound to want to jump into one of these books!
2018 Notable Junior Series
This year I have read so many Junior series but have been unable to share them all. Here are four series that are funny, silly and sometimes a little gross.
There’s a Baddie Running Through This Book
Brilliance!
Shelly Unwin has again delighted the reader with her ability to bring books alive, creating an atmosphere of fun and waggishness. There’s a Baddie Running Through This Book is her best yet and I am not only excited about this book but for what she will delight us with in the future.
The Last Peach
This book is written fully in dialogue and has mixed media artwork as the illustrations, both add a unique flavour to the book that makes it something special.
Freaks on the Loose
Wanted! Freaks of 4F!
Have your wits about you because these freaks antics are out of control! No one is safe, especially not Miss Corker who wants 4F to learn.
Do you dare read this book?
Will the freaks have you running away in the first few pages?
No One likes a Fart
One of the first things I thought about when reading this book is that my mum is going to be horrified when she reads my review, she hates the F word...the Fart word...it is one of her least favourite words. But then I realised she also has a sense of humor and she might overlook her least favourite words...maybe.
What’s Up Top
So what is up to? That is what we are left wondering when we get to the end of the book, but throughout the story the children's imagination is fed and inspired. From pages with almost nothing on a it to busy pages with baboons and giraffes our goal is to think about what is on top of the cheeky ladder.
The Squirrels who Squabbled
One thing I am learning about Rachel Bright and Jim Field is that they write and illustrate awesome books that are funny, with a captivating message on the side. The Squirrels Who Squabbled is a beautiful story of friendship and working together, but to get there laughter is ensured.
