We should be so proud of our young Australians because they really are standing up for the future. In the last couple of years, we have seen books such as Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls and High Five to the Boys, highlight men and women’s achievements to inspire young people. This book is different because it celebrates Australia’s inspirational young people who are making a difference, people just like the targeted readers, some we know and others we meet in Stand up for the Future.
What’s it about?
This book acknowledges inspirational and talented young Australian’s who are doing wonderful things for our world. The book is full of humanitarians, future Olympians, campaigners, teenagers overcoming challenges to achieve their goals, creatives, innovators, and wildlife warriors. It’s about acknowledging that our young people are doing things to change, improve, restore, look after our world.
Why I love it
There is a lot to love about this book, but the main reason it resonates with me is because it is brilliantly uplifting. It’s a colourful, easy to read, and inspiring. I love that it uplifts each of the people mentioned in the book by using phrases such as ‘Top Marks to’, ‘Shout out to’, ‘Thank you’, and ‘Raise the roof’. I love that even though I have never heard of most of the people in the book, I loved hearing their stories. Each and every one of these young people are part of the future of Australia, and the future the future looks good from here.
I believe this is a must have book for all Australians to read, not just because the royalties go to charity, but because it shows that our young people are thinking of the future, are overcoming the odds and advocating for positive social change.
Thank you to Puffin/Penguin books for the opportunity to read and honestly review this book.
