Elsie Elephant is a board book that will simply delight you and your young reader. The story begins at night with a NOT so tired Elsie...sound familiar anyone? It turns out that Elsie has a lot to say and as she stomps through the jungle, trumpeting loudly she wakes other animals along the way.
Brilliance! Shelly Unwin has again delighted the reader with her ability to bring books alive, creating an atmosphere of fun and waggishness. There’s a Baddie Running Through This Book is her best yet and I am not only excited about this book but for what she will delight us with in the future.
Lucia & Lawrence is a heartwarming and exceptional book that explores friendship, special needs, similarities, differences, inclusiveness and creativity. It is a story of two people who find themselves becoming friends even though they see the world in different ways, one full of whimsy and creativeness, the other living in a world of numbers and structure.
Ruth Waters book is fun, celebrates difference, and the importance of being true to yourself. This well paced adventure saw me instantly charmed by bear; I love that he wears patterned woolen jumpers and behaves the opposite of what is expected of a bear.
So before I get any older I plan on sharing this book with as many people as I can, which I hope inspires everyone to encourage children to be as free and whimsical in their imagination of what they want to be someday...or even today.
Missing is one that wouldn't let me put it down. Sue's book is engrossing, raw and emotional, especially when you think you know how it is going to end and it isn't how you thought it would be.
This book is gripping, confronting, overwhelming, engaging and perfect for teens and young adults.
