It’s Book week here in Australia – so Happy Book Week everyone. This years theme is Escape to Everywhere which I think is perfect because that is what reading and books allow you to do – go on wondrous adventures. This week I am happy to be escaping everywhere by sharing with you a couple of the books that won and got honours for this years Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Book of the Year awards… You can find the full list of winners at CBCA.
I would like to say a huge congratulations to the winners, honorees, and nominees, your books are amazing and children across the world are very blessed to read your books. Each book is much deserving, each story unique and each opening children’s minds to the wonders of imagination and the beginning of their literacy journey.
Across Australia I know there are many libraries, bookshops and schools are having costume parades, special storytime sessions, book fairs and promotion of literacy. I have listed below a few events that are happening across Melbourne that look like fun.
The Little Bookroom – Book Week Parade|Saturday August 26|3pm|requires RSVP
Lalor Library – Dress up as your favourite book character green screen experience| 10:30am & 3:30pm|Wednesday 21 – Friday 25 August

I would love to hear from you my readers about what you have done or are doing for book week. If you email me a photo or a link I would love to highlight these on my blog during the week.
Happy Escaping to everywhere this week no matter what part of the world you are in. Everyday is a chance to escape into books, not just during Book Week.
