When I saw The Last Jedi Visual Dictionary I knew I needed to share it because I know that there are so many people out there that would love it, especially with the movie recently premiering. I also wanted to share this book because DK are the masters of Non Fiction books for children, so I knew that it was going to be outstanding even before I opened the first page.
Poppy and the Orchestra is a very special book, it was more than I could have hoped for when I opened it for the first time. It introduces children to musical instruments and the orchestra.
I remember the day I received this book, I was literally in awe and I believe my mouth dropped open because I was captivated by its beauty. The first thing you notice when you open this book is that the pages are very dark and they evoke emotion.
The Book of Dust, I am not sure what I was thinking when I picked this book up for the first time. I know it was not typical of what I read but in an instant I was captivated. It wasn't for a couple of hours later that I put it down, but given its size I had barely made a dent in it. This did not matter to me as I wanted to know so much more and the mystery surrounding Lyra Belacqua intrigued me.
With a title like Hug Machine there was no way I could go past this book, hugs are one of the most simple acts one can do but is also one of the most caring and kind things that can be done. It is books like this, spreading love and happiness that I want to share with children.
Calling all shark trackers!...We'll hit our favourite shark haunts and hideouts and study lot of different sharks...and, of course, those celebrities of the sea.. A combination of these words were the introduction to the book and they really packed a punch. I was inspired to go on the journey with Professor John and study these mysterious creatures and hopefully to dispel some of my fears.
