The Champion Charlies: The Mix Up

Whether you call it soccer or football, if you're a fan of the sport you will love this new series that has been developed in partnership with the Football Federation Australia.  The Mix Up, the first in The Champion Charlies series is a celebration of Australian Soccer, friendship, teamwork, valuing the skills and abilities of others, and sportsmanship.

Fun Non Fiction Books For Young Minds

I am a big advocate of having Non Fiction books readily available for children to read.  They are great learning tools that often don't make the reader feel like they are learning because they are having so much fun, yes learning can be fun.

Sharkpedia

Calling all shark trackers!...We'll hit our favourite shark haunts and hideouts and study lot of different sharks...and, of course, those celebrities of the sea.. A combination of these words were the introduction to the book and they really packed a punch.  I was inspired to go on the journey with Professor John and study these mysterious creatures and hopefully to dispel some of my fears.

Explanatorium of Nature

My words will not do this book justice, because I can barely find the words for the up-close photography gives you a look at animals and nature like you have never seen before.  The front of the book drew me in the first time I saw it, its beauty doesn't just lie in its shiny cover though, the pages within are captivating and the information will keep you immersed for hours.

The Incredible Fold-Out Book of Animals

There is something quite spectacular about this book, and just by looking at the cover you do not realise just how compelling it is until you open the pages and are presented with striking photos of animals.  The words I have seem inadequate to describe the stunning photography.

The Awesome Book of Animals

Without a doubt this picture filled book of facts about awesome animals will be running off the shelves.  I am serious, this book is not only packed full of interesting information but its also a colourful wonderland that will have your least enthusiastic reader turning the pages wanting to learn more.

The Story of Paintings

One thing I have noticed working in a library is that the children always rush to the Non Fiction area, and I think there is something wonderful about that. It is like they have a thirst for knowledge even though they don't realise just what they are going to be gaining from reading or looking through these books.  The Story of Paintings: A History of Art for Children is recommended for children over the age of 7, but this book can be also be used in so many ways for children even younger.
