Lucia & Lawrence is a heartwarming and exceptional book that explores friendship, special needs, similarities, differences, inclusiveness and creativity. It is a story of two people who find themselves becoming friends even though they see the world in different ways, one full of whimsy and creativeness, the other living in a world of numbers and structure.
Not only is this a wonderful resource that can be used in the home or school setting, the author reminds us that it is about the process and not the product, that it is okay to make mistakes, encourage them to tinker, and give them the freedom to be innovative.
Sometimes there is just something extraordinary about picture books, they look like any other book but there are elements that make it unique. Lola Dutch is that for me, in its simplicity there is beauty and the hidden treasure in the dust jacket adds flair that can only come from the creative mind.
The book is extremely thorough from the outset, the introduction gives an insight into what coding is, what python is, what to install and where to begin. It took me a little while to get used to the different ‘language’, using words such as Hacks, Tweaks, Modules, and Strings.
I know I say this about so many books that I read BUT I really really really love these first 4 books in the D-Bot Squad series. I am not the only one who loves them because according to reviews on the D-Bot Squad web page children are saying that these books are AWESOME and made them feel both AMAZING, and EXCITED. I agree with them…because I read one after the other until I had read all 4. You know how some people binge watch TV…I believe I just binge read the first four books in this series and if you continue reading you will see why.
What I love about this book is that the authors have brought together a super popular game and paired it so cleverly with the word of God and applying practical lessons into real life. With this book tweens and teens will gain knowledge of the game as well as thinking about lessons learnt from the game in a biblical perspective.
DK continually creates outstanding informative books for readers, and How to be a Scientist is one of the best yet. There is so much to love about this book and it all begins with the bright cover that instantly makes you interested in what other exciting things may be in the book.
