I Love My Mum Because, is a darling book which is designed for mother and child to work on and read together.  From the moment the package arrived on my doorstep I was captivated by it, in its beautiful package and ice-cream label I knew I was in for a treat.  As I began to read through it, I was really touched by different aspects of the book and knew that this was a special one to share with you all.

The scribble end pages are a lovely childlike addition to the book, the theme of which travels throughout.  In a way I see this book as a love letter from child to mother and mother to child.

There are two pages that almost brought me to tears because of how heartfelt they are, ‘ I love my mum because she gives me the stars and the moon’ and ‘She knows which colour I am on the inside.’  These words show how much mums know their babies back and front, inside and out, and want to give them the world.  This is a beautiful reflection of love and understanding a parent has for their child.

While I understand not every little person has their mamma in their lives or even have a heartfelt relationship with them, I think it is lovely to celebrate those that do and I am hopeful the creators are inspired to design a ‘special person’ style book where a child can choose someone in their life that they love.

This interactive picture book will inspire your child to be creative because they can colour, draw, seek and find, count and decorate the pages.  The illustrations and design throughout are fun, and on some pages whimsical.  There is a mixture of bright pages, busy pages, and almost all white pages but it is all balanced into a fun book.

Even though I am not a mother, I know if I was a child I would love doing this with my mamma.  Whether the child completes it and gifts it to their mum or they do it together, this book is bound to become a favourite. I highly recommend this book.
