The Walkabout Orchestra

When this gem arrived in the mail I was rather excited, I have always been a fan of the Where’s Wally type of books and this one sure didn’t disappoint.  The Walkabout Orchestra Postcards from around the World, is a beautiful book.

Shout Out to the Girls

Shout Out to the Girls is my definite pick of the month for a must have book, especially for Australian children and teens.  With all the royalties going to The Smith Family charity you not only get to read the book but help those in need.

Congratulations to the various Penguin Random House women that put this together, I thank you for opening my mind to possibilities.

Lola Dutch is a Little Bit Much

Sometimes there is just something extraordinary about picture books, they look like any other book but there are elements that make it unique. Lola Dutch is that for me, in its simplicity there is beauty and the hidden treasure in the dust jacket adds flair that can only come from the creative mind.

The Book of Dust

The Book of Dust, I am not sure what I was thinking when I picked this book up for the first time.  I know it was not typical of what I read but in an instant I was captivated.  It wasn’t for a couple of hours later that I put it down, but given its size I had barely made a dent in it.  This did not matter to me as I wanted to know so much more and the mystery surrounding Lyra Belacqua intrigued me.

Explanatorium of Nature

My words will not do this book justice, because I can barely find the words for the up-close photography gives you a look at animals and nature like you have never seen before.  The front of the book drew me in the first time I saw it, its beauty doesn’t just lie in its shiny cover though, the pages within are captivating and the information will keep you immersed for hours.
