I hope you are ready for a laugh and some mischievous bunnies, and a bear that CAN’T babysit…or so it is said.  This delightful book sees Mr and Mrs Burrow needing a babysitter for Anna, Adelaide, Betsy, Bill, Caspar, Clive and little Dottie. They put out an ad and only one animal answers the call…Bear.

Fun ensures and those tricky little bunnies tell bear that they can read scary stories, cook dinner which consisted of ice cream, sweets and biscuits, and “water”the garden. When Mr and Mrs Burrow return home they are surprised at what is awaiting them.

The first time I read through this book, I did so with a big smile. I automatically knew that this book would be a delightful to read at storytime sessions, especially with the phrase “That Bear Can’t Babysit” which the children could join in shouting out loud. I particularly enjoy reading books with repetitive phrases for this reason, they make a great interactive experiences for group and one-on-one experience.

The illustrations are playful and bear looks perplexed although happy throughout. The bunnies faces are quite expressive and the illustrator has got a nice balance between colour and white space.

It is a fun book that will delight your young reader and will make a beautiful addition to your picture book collection.

Thank you to Allen & Unwin for the opportunity to read and honestly review this book.
