It was a bittersweet day that I received this book in the mail.  It was what would have been my fathers 74 birthday had he still been with us, it prompted some memories and reminded me how wonderful it is for children to celebrate their fathers.

Just like I Love My Mum Because this is a darling book where children can enjoy the experience of working through this book together to celebrate their relationship.  It is a book to play games in, decorate, draw, use your imagination, connect the dots and count together; creating memories and looking back over the year and seeing how much you have changed together.

I couldn’t decide what my favourite pages of the book were because there was something to love about each one.  I do love that the book is full of colour, bright and cheerful that inspires the reader and their dad to add their artistic flare.  What I love about this book is that unlike a colouring book this one encourages all facets of the creative self.  Yes there is colouring, but there is also the opportunity for the readers to draw their own pictures too; and the opportunity to fill in the gaps for a story is a wonderful experience for a child to express their feelings.

I understand that not all children have a daddy in their lives for whatever reason that may be, this book is also good to treasure the memories of them especially if they have passed away like my dad has.  It is nice for dad’s to be celebrated all year round and not just during father’s day.

Whether this is done together or as a gift, this is a heartfelt experience for both the child and dad where that special relationship is celebrated.  I highly recommend this book that is bound to become a favourite of many.

Thank you to Pan Macmillan Australia for the opportunity to read and honestly review this book.
