Lucia & Lawrence is a heartwarming and exceptional book that explores friendship, special needs, similarities, differences, inclusiveness and creativity. It is a story of two people who find themselves becoming friends even though they see the world in different ways, one full of whimsy and creativeness, the other living in a world of numbers and structure.
Ruth Waters book is fun, celebrates difference, and the importance of being true to yourself. This well paced adventure saw me instantly charmed by bear; I love that he wears patterned woolen jumpers and behaves the opposite of what is expected of a bear.
I read a lot of children's chapter books, but none have been quite like this one, its story is fresh and real, with an injection of history that brings it all into a well paced adventure.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book 12 - The Getaway by Jeff Kinney is only 9 DAYS AWAY here in Australia! Whose excited? Can you tell that I am? I will definitely be sharing a review of it within the next couple of weeks.
The colours draw you into the story on those first few pages of the book, the shades of green give you the feeling of being out among the trees and plants in the garden, the tortoise face a beautiful rosy complexion whose eyes show an old but warm and happy soul. The colours and illustrations continue to amaze as I turn the pages, each majestic and beautiful creature brought to life by the artist ability to bring us the African Jungle through her artistic ability.
Regardless of whether you agree with the content in this book, all bears, children and adults should NEVER feel ashamed about who they are. I am a Christian and I am not ashamed of that so why should someone who is a different race, wears glasses, lives with Asperger's, ADHD, physical differences, being scared, not being able to read or write, or just like bear...no longer being happy as Thomas but finding joy and peace in being Tilly.
What delightful fun Lou and her friends have. Most of the time Lou is very brave and will try all sort of new fun things, but sometimes Lou is unsure.
