So what is up to? That is what we are left wondering when we get to the end of the book, but throughout the story the children's imagination is fed and inspired. From pages with almost nothing on a it to busy pages with baboons and giraffes our goal is to think about what is on top of the cheeky ladder.
Letterbox Purple Pack
It has taken sometime but I am back to talk about the wonderful BookTrust program Letterbox and the Purple pack they sent me. I loved it when I received it and I love it still now, I think it has a whole heap of items that extend the reading and learning experience, but its best quality is that it is FUN!
Guff
Sometimes I wonder whether picture books are written for us the adults too, or whether something just resonates with us that it just feels that way. This is how this book was for me, first of all I loved it - its hard not to love Aaron Blabey books - and second I think we have all had or have a guff in our lives whether it be a fabric or human friend.
Spot the Difference – Building Site
DK continually make books that are both educational and fun for children that encourage conversation, thinking and reading; a well rounded literacy experience. This book, Spot the Difference: Building Site is fun and interactive, giving the reader some fun difference spotting activities on each page.
Wipe-Clean First Phonics
As I have mentioned before I am not normally one to suggest formal learning before school, learning for preschoolers should be done in a way that is and feels like play rather than learning. However, when Hachette Australia sent me this First Phonics book I thought it would be a wonderful resource for the 3 year old and above age group, particularly if they are going to 3 year old Kinder.
Zebra On The Go
"Trumpets tooting, cannon shooting, Music playing, horses neighing, flags are flapping, children clapping". Fun! Fun! and more Fun!
Dog On A Train
Some books don't need words because sometimes the illustrations are so beautiful and intricate that the story speaks for itself and this is what Kate Prendergast has achieved in her book Dog One a Train.
I Don’t Know What To Call My Cat
I opened the package not knowing which book it might be, I felt like I was 8 years old again as I slowly slid the book out and discovered it was I Don't Know What To Call My Cat by Simon Philip and Illustrated by Ella Bailey.
Throwback Thursday – C.J Dennis
"Hey there! Hoop-la! the circus is in town! Have you seen..." I remember loving this poem in the book, it is titled The Circus.
Lucy’s Book
You know when you see a book and you really want to read it even before you know anything about it? It captured your eye and instantly you knew it was special? This was how I felt about Lucy's Book.
