Here is the final part to the Smarty Arty Aussie Animals theme. I have really enjoyed sharing this theme with you and am going to finish off with a few books that will be a lovely addition to your crafting session.
Art, Play and Reading are the perfect opportunities for children to learn and extend their developmental and literacy skills, and stimulating their imagination and curiosity, while helping with brain development. All this is important to me which is why over the next couple of weeks I will be sharing with you an art kit from the Smarty Arty store about Aussie Animals and my pick of books to go with it.
The good (and bad) thing about working in a library is that you find little gems on the shelves nearly every shift…I have had to learn to not bring every book home that I love. I couldn’t go past this book because it is perfect for my story time session I am taking this week. When it comes to The Very Hungry Caterpillar I normally prefer the original book, but this lift-the-flap version is so sweet and perfect for my toddler group this week.
Enid Blyton has never strayed far from children’s bookshelves, and her books are still so very popular today. One thing I see as a Librarian is that parents trust the content in Enid Blyton books because they read them as a child, they know the content and understand them to be a safe read for their child.
I know I say this about so many books that I read BUT I really really really love these first 4 books in the D-Bot Squad series. I am not the only one who loves them because according to reviews on the D-Bot Squad web page children are saying that these books are AWESOME and made them feel both AMAZING, and EXCITED. I agree with them…because I read one after the other until I had read all 4. You know how some people binge watch TV…I believe I just binge read the first four books in this series and if you continue reading you will see why.
It’s School holidays here in Australia but storytime has still been happening at most branches of our library. Yesterday I had the privilege of taking a preschool session and we had so much fun. I had some really lovely books about bears that I wanted to read to the children so that is why I chose this theme.
Recently I did a couple of different story times based on dinosaurs at two different libraries. I was excited to use the Knock Knock Dinosaur book by Nick East that I recently reviewed at both the story times and it was a hit! Both sessions were different sizes so the other books I chose were based on those groups, so the other books I used were different at each session.
