As I have mentioned before I am not normally one to suggest formal learning before school, learning for preschoolers should be done in a way that is and feels like play rather than learning. However, when Hachette Australia sent me this First Phonics book I thought it would be a wonderful resource for the 3 year old and above age group, particularly if they are going to 3 year old Kinder.
How gorgeous is this book! As soon as I saw it in the library catalogue I just knew I needed to share this with you all
The Queen is coming to tea indeed and there is so much to prepare, who would of thought that Ellie knew a baker in Paris, a tea grower in China and a Ballerina in New York to help make her afternoon tea grand.

It wasn't until I been until I have been going through these books that I truly realised just how much my aunt supported my love of reading and literacy. From such a young age I was blessed by all the adults around me to be gifted so many books.
It's a little big silly, a little bit funny, there are dinosaurs and ginormous pumpkins and wobbly teeth, all the things children 6 years of age love.

What delightful fun Lou and her friends have. Most of the time Lou is very brave and will try all sort of new fun things, but sometimes Lou is unsure.
Never underestimate the effects of bullying, it is NEVER ok and is always serious.
The art activity is such a big part of the literacy experience. It shouldn't be just an add on at the end of a story time. I find it most successful when there is lots of discussion while creating and then the stories the children share with me about their creation.
