Ivy Pocket

How does anyone describe Ivy Pocket? Most people think she is quirky, despite being 12 she has the spirit of an old women, she's exasperating, constantly doing things that she doesn't realise she is doing, she is unaware of the baddies around her and people are constantly requesting that their home addresses are not revealed to Ivy.  I find Ivy Pocket to be a bit of a train wreck, but inadvertently funny, endearing, imaginative and most importantly a heroine who like to share tall tales while unknowingly getting the job done.

Throwback Thursday – My Own Cookbook

Another book gifted to me as a child but this time from my nana, she was known for cooking delicious food especially her scones which she could whip up in minutes.  So it was not surprising when she gifted me this cookbook which was probably considered quite cool in the 80's.

D-BOT Squad Series & Giveaway

I know I say this about so many books that I read BUT I really really really love these first 4 books in the D-Bot Squad series.  I am not the only one who loves them because according to reviews on the D-Bot Squad web page children are saying that these books are AWESOME and made them feel both AMAZING, and EXCITED. I agree with them…because I read one after the other until I had read all 4. You know how some people binge watch TV...I believe I just binge read the first four books in this series and if you continue reading you will see why.

Fashion Face-Off

Initially when I opened this book to read it I was expecting the story to be full of fashion diva's, but I was pleasantly surprised. The story is about so much more, its all about friendship, loyalty, family, winning at all costs and the very talented Mickey.

Throwback Thursday – The Lord’s Prayer

This is another precious book that my God Mother Aunty Kerry gave me (treasured even more now she has passed away). She has always nurtured my faith, and this book she gifted me at my christening taught me the Lord's Prayer.

What’s Coming Up

This month I have a few awesome junior and teen novels as well as a stack of picture books that I will be reviewing. In the meantime I am reading a lot and loving what is coming out in Australia over July and August.  There really is something for all ages, some I cannot share until nearly the end of the month but in the mean time I have a mixture of new and old books to share with you.

A Beary Busy Storytime

It's School holidays here in Australia but storytime has still been happening at most branches of our library.  Yesterday I had the privilege of taking a preschool session and we had so much fun.  I had some really lovely books about bears that I wanted to read to the children so that is why I chose this theme.

Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World

I have noticed there are a lot of children's books being written for children and teens about women who have contributed to society both in the past and presently that are due to be published or have recently been published.  So, when I came across Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World at the Library in the form of a picture book I had to bring it home for a read and review.  I am not a feminist as such, but I do think that both Women and Men should be celebrated.
